Artistic journey

I see each piece of my art as a window to another world. There are many worlds around us, and I try to attract the attention of my viewers to something that, maybe, they could not see before. The moment of a petal moving in opening to the sun, the light in a dog's eyes, the unusual moon, the magic of life.

I work in different media: colored pencils, oil, acrylics, and watercolors. My favorite side of creating is mixing the languages of different media in one art conversation. I see those experiments as "the painting creates itself" process, and I love it. Art is some kind of meditation for me; I love to create windows into imaginary worlds.

I am a self-taught artist. I worked as a journalist for 15 years in Moscow, Russia, but when I moved to the United States in 2001, I decided to follow my dream. I have illustrated a few children's books and received a few awards at art shows in Michigan. I love to experiment by mixing different art media to create textured art that almost jumps out from the canvas. In portraits, I follow a more traditional way of expressing.
